Shikhar Dangal was born on September 24, 1947, in Maugau, Bhutan. Later, he moved to Gelephu (Gaylegphug), Bhutan, where he served his community as the village headman (Gaubuda). He was widely respected for his leadership, honesty, and dedication to helping others. In 1992, during the forced eviction of many ethnic Nepalis from Bhutan, Shikhar Dangal and his family were displaced from their homeland. They sought refuge in the Timai Refugee Camp in Jhapa, Nepal, where they began a new life under difficult circumstances. Despite the hardships of refugee life, Shikhar Dangal worked tirelessly as a small businessman to provide for his family. Through his determination and sacrifice, he supported his children’s education, enabling them to attend college and build better futures. Alongside his business, he devoted his time to volunteer service within the refugee community, earning the respect and gratitude of those around him. His life is remembered as one of resilience, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to his family and community.
