In Loving Memory of Swami Narayanacharyaji January 29, 1946 – May 17, 2026 The Bhutanese Community of Central Pennsylvania (BCCPA) mourns with profound grief the passing of Swami Narayanacharyaji — a revered spiritual leader, dedicated public servant, and beloved pillar of our Bhutanese community. Born on January 29, 1946, in the village of Gopini, Chirang District, Bhutan, to his father Khadananda and mother Manrupa Adhikari, Swami Narayanacharyaji lived a life of extraordinary purpose. He was, in the truest sense, a confluence of three great streams: spiritual devotion, social service, and civic responsibility. For nearly two decades, he served his people in formal public roles — as a National Assembly Member (MLA) and Public Relations Officer — bringing the concerns of ordinary people into the corridors of governance with dignity and tireless dedication. His spiritual formation was equally profound. A devoted disciple of Yogiraj Swamiji Maharaj, he undertook the rigorous discipline of Ashtanga Yoga under his guru's direct guidance, deepening a practice rooted in both classical scholarship and lived devotion. Swami Narayanacharyaji understood that spiritual knowledge is not merely personal — it is a lamp that must illuminate the community. In that spirit, he produced an English-language commentary on the Bhagavad Gita grounded in Ramanuja's Vishishtadvaita philosophy, making one of Hinduism's most profound texts accessible to readers across linguistic traditions. He also authored Bhakti Evam Yoga Vigyan ("The Science of Devotion and Yoga"), a work that continues to guide seekers on the path of surrender and self-realization. His creative gifts extended into music: a graduate-level student of classical music, he composed and performed dozens of bhajans and kirtans that have echoed through homes and temples across communities near and far. He was further honored with the title of Acharya — a designation reserved for those who guide souls along the path of Sharanagati, the way of complete surrender to the divine. On the night of May 17, 2026, at 11:00 p.m., Swami Narayanacharyaji departed this earthly realm in Palmyra, Pennsylvania, leaving behind his family, his congregation, and a community that is silently bereft. As the Bhagavad Gita — which he spent his life illuminating — reminds us: "For one who is born, death is certain; and for one who has died, birth is certain. Therefore, in what is inevitable, you should not grieve." Yet grief comes nonetheless, because love does not follow the logic of inevitability. We pray that his atman attains full union with Sri Maha Vishnu — Sayujya Mukti, the liberation he devoted his entire life to illuminating for others. Funeral Services: The cremation ceremony (Dahasanskar) will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at the 2100 Linglestown Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17110. श्रीवैकुण्ठ मुपेत्य… तेनैव धन्य: पुमान् — Having attained the supreme abode of Vaikuntha, he rejoices eternally in union with the Infinite. Blessed indeed is such a soul.
